Founded in 1923 by Carl Howell as a gas station, garage, and post office, Howell’s Garage has been family-run for four generations. After Carl, the business was carried on by his son, Curtis, and brother Marvin, and later by Curtiss son, Larry. Larry began full-time in 1970, with his son, Cody, joining him in 2009.
In the early years, the garage operated without electricity until Southern Indiana Power brought rural electric service, helping the business grow and better serve the community.
Over the years, Larry Howell’s Garage has carried trusted lines such as John Deere, Ford, Homelite, and, since 1971, STIHL. Today, they continue to serve the community by selling and servicing STIHL equipment, logging supplies, and hydraulic hoses.
The service department, staffed by two Gold-level technicians, is known as one of the best in the Midwest region. Larry and Cody personally handle much of the work, going above and beyond for every customer.
A century later, Larry Howell’s Garage remains a proud family tradition built on service and reliability.
