Each year the cooperative hosts a meeting of the membership as a special time for co-op members to gather, share experiences, hear from co-op leaders and elect board members. This is the annual meeting, and it takes place on April 10 at the Porter County Expo Center in Valparaiso.

Our employees work hard to host this fun event, and we encourage you to attend and exercise the many rights you have as a member of an electric cooperative. The event will include dinner, entertainment for all ages, prizes and much more.

The Kankakee Valley REMC annual meeting is designed to take care of important business relating to your cooperative. This is also an opportunity to learn more about topics that impact you and talk about what we, as a dedicated supporter of the community, can do to help address these topics and take advantage of the opportunities.

This is an exciting year for your cooperative as we embark on the opportunity to consolidate with Jasper County REMC. We encourage you to come to the meeting, learn more about the consolidation and ask questions to see how this opportunity will benefit the membership and strengthen the cooperative.

As a member of the cooperative, you have the unique opportunity to be involved in the decisions that shape your cooperative for the future. One of these opportunities is to vote for member representation on the board. This year you will be able to vote for three members to represent you and lead the cooperative on the board of directors. The individuals you elect are entrusted to oversee the strategic direction of the cooperative and ensure the cooperative has good governance.

If it has been a few years since you have attended an annual meeting, we encourage you to join your friends and neighbors at this year’s event. You might just know us as your electric company, but we are connected to you in other ways. As members of the local community, we are also your neighbors. We look forward to seeing you on April 10. Doors open at 5 p.m. CDT with dinner served until 6:15 and the business meeting to follow at 6:30.
