Keeping your whole home connected

Internet signal range is important in keeping your whole home connected.

There are several factors that can impact your internet signal range, such as the size of your home, the materials used to build it, and the location of your Wi-Fi router. While factors such as these play a role in signal strength, TWN Communications uses state-of-the-art equipment to ensure total home connectivity.

During the fiber installation process, TWN will run a fiber line to your home. When this fiber line is brought inside the home, it connects to a small box called the Optical Network Terminal, or ONT for short. When the ONT is hooked up to a Wi-Fi router, you are officially connected!

TWN’s Wi-Fi router of choice is the Calix GigaSpire BLAST. This router, which is provided to you free of charge, is a next-generation smart home system. Utilizing the latest advancements in Wi-Fi technology, the Calix GigaSpire BLAST offers fast speeds and substantial signal strength so you can search, stream, and scroll with confidence.

The GigaSpire uses the newest 802.11ax standard, also known as Wi-Fi 6, to offer longer range and higher efficiency. It also provides dual band support (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz). One band communicates with your device, while the other band communicates with your router, so that there is little to no impact on bandwidth.

Plus, if you’re an Amazon subscriber, you can access Amazon Alexa through your GigaSpire BLAST. This means that you can use simple voice commands to get real-time information about your network, find out which user is using the most bandwidth, or ask for your Wi-Fi password! The built-in Amazon Alexa feature also makes it easy to pair and control all the smart devices in your home.

There’s even a Gigabit Ethernet port so you can connect a wired multimedia device for rapid data sharing across your network.

If the Calix GigaSpire BLAST does not provide full coverage throughout your home, one or more extenders can be used to further the network footprint and expand the service area.

Maybe you have internet everywhere inside your house, but you want coverage in your garage or barn. Extenders rebroadcast the existing Wi-Fi signal from your router to the area where you’re not getting a signal and are typically set up midway between the Wi-Fi router and your dead zone. Additional extenders are available for purchase through TWN.

With cutting-edge technology and a can-do attitude, TWN Communications will go above and beyond to provide you with the most reliable internet coverage and best signal strength possible.
