Join us for the Cardinal Tour

Where does my electricity come from? How is electricity generated?

Join Paulding Putnam Electric Co-op (PPEC) for the 2018 tour of Cardinal Generating Station to find out!

Located on the Ohio River in Brilliant, Ohio, Buckeye Power’s Cardinal Plant provides power to the 24 electric co-ops in Ohio. The plant has invested over $1 billion into environmental upgrades — making it one of the cleanest coal-fired power plants in the world.

The 2018 Cardinal Plant tour is scheduled to take place Sept. 12. This scenic, one-day trip is free to cooperative members and includes an interesting and informative guided tour of the plant, as well as lunch. The bus will depart from the Northtowne Mall parking lot in Defiance. Members signed up to attend will receive a complete itinerary in early August.

Tour participants must be at least 12 years old, unless specifically authorized. There will be a considerable amount of walking, climbing several flights of stairs, and going through some hot and dusty areas. Members with health concerns, those who require assistance walking, or those who cannot walk more than a half mile without resting should not take the tour. Space is limited and seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that the tour is only offered to Paulding Putnam Electric Cooperative members who have not previously toured the plant. Seating is limited, so be sure to sign up early.

If you are interested in attending this year’s tour, and would like to request your seat(s) on the tour bus, please e-mail pniagu@ppec.coop or call 800-686-2357.
