Now more than ever, Heartland REMC is seeing an overwhelming demand for reliable high-speed internet in our service territory. Even with today’s uncertainty, we continue to push this project forward with some exciting news: Currently, we have four crews working in the area!

Two crews are working on the main fiber line. In electric utility lingo, think of this as the towering transmission line that will carry the load throughout the territory.

The third crew is working on the underground distribution network in the Lafayette CO Zone. This distribution network is what is located directly outside homes. Finally, the fourth crew is working on the communication buildings that will house equipment throughout the territory.

All four of these crews are practicing safe, social distancing and working in small groups to follow recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control. This will allow us to continue to build out the high-speed Internet system without delay. The work schedule is being evaluated regularly ensure that the safety of our crews come first.
