Harvest season is one of the busiest times of the year, with long hours in the field and large equipment in use. As the pace picks up, it’s important to stay alert, especially when working near overhead power lines.

Farm equipment like combines, augers, and grain carts can easily reach the height of power lines.

A single accidental contact can damage equipment, cause outages, or even result in serious injury or death.

Safety tips to keep in mind:

  • Know your surroundings. Always look up before moving equipment.
  • Keep a safe distance. Stay at least 10 feet away from overhead lines.
  • Use a spotter. Have someone help guide large machinery around hazards.
  • Call before you move. If a power line is too close for comfort, contact your local electric cooperative for assistance.

Taking a few extra moments to check your surroundings can save lives and prevent costly damage. Lets work together for a safe and successful harvest season.
