I hope you are excited for the new year and are filled with new goals and renewed energy. As I write this column, we are going over our budget for the coming year and have some projects planned that will move us forward in the technology world. We hope to install a new meter system, redo our website to include an outage map, and move to paperless work orders. We will provide more updates as the year progresses.

Zeta Whitmer, an eighth grader at Rochester Middle School, poses for a photo with Joe Koch, CEO of Fulton County REMC, at Indiana Electric Cooperatives’ annual meeting in December.

This past month, I was privileged to present a Youth Power, & Hope Award to Zeta Whitmer, an eighth grader at Rochester Middle School.

Her community service outreach is as close as here in Fulton County and as far as Uganda. Zeta received the award for her leadership with her school’s “Champions Together” program and National Junior Honor Society and for making bracelets for and corresponding with 23 students in Uganda.

Congratulations to Zeta on receiving this award and thank you for helping our communities.

For those of you who made New Year’s resolutions, stay strong and keep persevering. I hope the new year brings much joy and happiness to all of you.
