It’s a rodeo unlike any other, where our linemen wrangle transformers and rescue dummies instead of bulls.

Noble REMC was proud to send four of our linemen Journeymen Tyler Rhoades, Trevor Harlan and Luke Gillis, as well as Apprentice Jared Buckles to the Indiana Electric Cooperative Lineman Rodeo, held Aug. 21-22 in Danville, Indiana. The two-day event showcased the skills and safety training of electric cooperative lineworkers.

A big congratulations to Gillis, who placed third in the mutual-aid task alongside linemen from RushShelby Energy and Miami-Cass REMC. This new event paired participants with other co-ops linemen to work together on a skills task a lot like what they do during widespread outage restorations.

Other notable achievements include Rhoades, who ranked 10th out of 42 individual participants for his overall score that combined his time and effort in the hurt man rescue, skill climb and egg climb. Noble REMCs journeyman lineman team also earned 10th out of 35 teams for their teamwork on hurt man rescue, transformer changeout, underarm switch and the mystery event.
