This past year, we made a significant change to how we billed energy with the implementation of time-of-use rates. While some members expressed frustration with the change, others saw it as a challenge and approached it with optimism. Regardless of how you felt, the outcome is clear: our members followed our recommendations in a big way and used the time-of-use rate to make smart energy choices. These efforts resulted in savings to the cooperative.

When we introduced this program, our goal was twofold: to give you an opportunity to save money by shifting your energy use to off-peak and super off-peak times, and to help the cooperative manage its energy costs.

Whether you elected to run your appliances at off-peak times, pre-cool your home to reduce air conditioner use during peak times, or were simply mindful of when you used energy, you helped make a difference. The results of your efforts are that the cooperative was able to save money on the energy we purchased to sell to you this year.

As a co-op, we believe that when your efforts help us save, those savings should be returned to all members. Now, we are excited to return those savings to you on your December electric bill.

This month, you will see a line on your bill titled “Power Savings Credit.” This credit is your portion of the savings we were able to achieve. This is a one-time credit.

The savings on our power bill clearly show what we can achieve when we all actively participate. Cooperatives thrive when members work together, and everyone stepped up in a big way with the rollout of time-of-use rates. Thank you for working with us to save money and make smarter energy choices that benefit all members of the co-op. Let’s keep the momentum going!
