Five organizations receive Operation Round Up grants

At its March meeting, the SIREC Community Trust committee awarded a total of $17,350 in Operation Round Up grants. Receiving grants were:

  • Chrisney Volunteer Fire Department: $2,650 for the purchase of Wildland fire resistant boots 
  • Anderson Twp. Volunteer Fire Department: $3,300 to purchase Whelen LED light bars ($2,596) and Rear LED beacons ($700) 
  • Spencer County Fire Chiefs’ Association: $5,000 to purchase safety vests for Spencer County Firefighters
  • Santa Claus Volunteer Fire Department: $3,000 for the purchase of firefighter helmets
  • Cannelton Food Pantry: $1,400 to purchase personal care items for clients 

Scholarships

  • Carina Kessans, $500, University of Evansville, Tell City High School
  • Ashley Barnett, $500, University of Evansville, South Spencer High School
  • Jenna Burns, $500, Kentucky Wesleyan, Heritage Hills High School
  • Claire Davis, $500, Indiana University, Perry Central High School

Operation Round Up is a member-funded program which supports charitable organizations serving Southern Indiana Power members and communities. Since the program was established in 2005, Southern Indiana Power has awarded 353 grants totaling over $462,000.
