The power that BCREMC purchases from our wholesale provider, Hoosier Energy, changes in cost throughout the year. Because of this, the Wholesale Power Cost Tracker appears on your bill each month and adjusts every quarter. It reflects the fluctuating cost of power that Hoosier Energy purchases on our behalf. The tracker is a direct pass-through and is calculated based on your kilowatt-hour (kWh) use. For the first quarter of 2026, the Wholesale Tracker is $0.015789 per kWh.

Over the past three years, BCREMC has applied a monthly relief credit to help offset these higher wholesale power costs. Since early 2023, members have received a refund for each kWh used, helping reduce the impact of the Wholesale Power Cost Tracker during a time of inflation and higher market prices. This credit has played an important role in keeping energy more affordable.

In 2026, we continue to focus on delivering strong value for the services we provide. The relief credit ended at the close of 2025, but we expect Hoosier Energy’s Wholesale Power Cost Tracker to decrease significantly on members’ bills beginning in the second quarter of 2026.
