February board meeting highlights

To keep you informed of your cooperative’s operations and activities, the following are highlights of the Feb. 19 board meeting.

1. All directors were present along with CEO Steve Seibert and administrative assistant Lisa Hinton. Also present was systems engineer Todd Hammond and John Wolfram of Catalyst Consulting, LLC.

2.  The Jan. 29 board meeting minutes were reviewed and approved.

3. The membership certificates were reviewed. 

4. The vouchers were reviewed and approved.

5. Hammond provided an update from the engineering department.

6. Seibert reviewed the Hoosier Energy wholesale power cost tracker effective April 1. 

7. Wolfram presented information on the Hoosier Energy wholesale power cost tracker impacts and SIP rates for the board’s consideration.

8. Seibert provided a fiber project update.

9. The CEO report was presented with Seibert reporting the following items:

a. Seibert reviewed the transition to the co-op’s new call center, Cooperative Response Center (CRC).

b. Seibert reported he, board chairman Jeff Vogel, and directors Gary
Waninger and Randy Kleaving along with co-op employees Hammond and Rachael Goldsberry attended the LEDC annual meeting.

c. Seibert provided an update on Riverview Energy.

d. Seibert reviewed the 2019-2022 RUS work plan.

e. Seibert provided a 2019 key accounts report.

f. Seibert informed the board the EAP moratorium ends March 15.

g. Seibert reported James Applegate began work on Feb. 10 as a
    journeyman lineman.

h. Seibert informed directors of upcoming meeting dates: NRECA
annual meeting, March 1-4; Spencer County chamber dinner, March 14;
Operation Round Up board of trustees meeting, April 1; Hoosier Energy annual meeting, April 2.

10. Brandon Gentry and John Bullock, training and safety specialists with Hoosier Energy, conducted flagger certification skill improvement on Jan. 30. Basic life support, basic first aid, AED and bloodborne pathogen training is scheduled to be conducted by IEC on Feb. 24. Seibert advised there were no lost time accidents and no public liability claims to report.

11. The board approved a request from Indiana Electric Cooperatives for a corporate donation for 2020 FORE participation. 

12. Vogel presented a Youth Tour committee report. Youth Tour attendees will be Liam Gogle of Perry Central Jr. Sr. High School and Lillian Kolley of Heritage Hills High School. Touchstone Energy Camp attendees will be Simon Knepper and Dorian Dillion-Lee.

13. Gary Waninger reported on a Hoosier Energy board meeting held Feb. 10.

14. Randy Kleaving reported on an IEC board meeting held Feb. 19.

15. Chairman Vogel read a thank you note from Perry Central Community schools.

16. The next regularly scheduled board of directors meetings will be held Tuesday, March 31.
