Tyler Wherrett and Tim Morgart, both five-year employees of Kankakee Valley REMC, were two of 30 lineworkers who graduated earlier this year from the Indiana Electric Cooperatives’ Rural Electric Apprenticeship Program (REAP). REAP is a four-year program that professionally trains apprentice lineworkers from across Indiana.
Wherrett and Morgart were both required to complete 576 hours of classroom-related study, 8,000 hours of on-the-job training at the co-op, and four classes through Ivy Tech Community College.
Upon completion, they earned Associate of Science degrees and journeyman lineman certificates.
REAP exemplifies the commitment to developing skilled professionals who uphold the values of safety, reliability, and community service.
“We are incredibly proud of Tyler and Tim for their dedication and hard work throughout this program. Their commitment to professional growth and service to the community reflects the values that drive our co-op,” said KV REMC CEO Scott Sears.
