After 37 years of faithful service to the members of Clark County REMC, Journeyman Lineman Mark Eckert is retiring.

Eckert began his career at REMC in 1984 as an apprentice lineman and worked his way to journeyman rank. Eckert also completed a four-year meter technician apprenticeship where he earned the top score in his class.

When asked about why he loves REMC, Eckert said, “I became a lineman because I like working outside and the challenge. You have to work safe all the time, if you don’t, everyone suffers: you, your family, your coworkers, etc. I have been in this work for over 40 years. I worked for electrical contractors and other utilities. From my experiences, believe me, nothing beats the co-op life.”

An avid fisherman, Eckert is looking forward to spending time with his family, enjoying the outdoors, and gardening.

On behalf of the REMC board of directors and employees, we thank Eckert for his dedication to our co-op, and wish him all the best in retirement.
