Installing energy-efficient appliances and making energy-smart changes around the house are great ways to help you save on your electric bill (find lots of energy-saving tips at clarkremc.coop/101-ways-save-energy-and-money). But many families need more information to make the right choice. Here are several ways you can take control of your account to make the best choice for your family.

Monitor your USE with SmartHuB. SmartHub is our web and mobile tool to take full control of your account. Log in to see exactly how much electricity you are using from one hour to the next. Compare the temperature outside to your energy use inside to see how much impact the weather has on your bill. You can even compare this month’s bill to the same month last year. Taking a few minutes to review what’s happening in your home can help you make smart choices and save money.

Make the switch to Prepaid. Most REMC members use their electricity and then receive a bill for it at the end of the month. It’s convenient, but there is a downside: no one knows how much they’re spending on electricity until the bill comes a month later. If it’s higher than you were expecting, it’s too late to make any changes.

But with Prepaid billing, you can see exactly how much energy you use every day, in dollars and cents. So say goodbye to monthly bills, security deposits, and late fees, and say hello to Prepaid!

Enroll in Budget. Billing Everyone loves a surprise, until it comes from their utility bill! Many members see low bills in the spring and fall and higher bills in the winter and summer. Get rid of the guess work by enrolling in Budget Billing. You’ll know what to expect every month, while the  high costs of heating and cooling are spread out over the entire year.

You’ll notice a small rate increase on the bill you will receive in February. Give us a call this month to discuss other ways to manage your account.
