All members who participated in our director election were entered to win our grand prize, a five-tool combo kit donated by Milwaukee and Altec. Congrats to our winners, Tim and Andrea Hester of Zionsville.
Uncle Bills Pet Centers donated a dog prize pack for our member drive-thru event. The furry friends who came through the event with their owners were entered to win the gift. Our winner was Luna, who belongs to Jean Labrie of Thorntown.

In celebration of our 2025 theme of Building Our Cooperative Story, we provided building blocks and electric safety activity booklets to our youngest members during our drive-thru event. We encouraged them to use the blocks to create something they found in their activity booklet.

Elsie Phillips, age 9, daughter of Boone REMC lineman Zach Phillips, created power lines.

Wesson Hamilton, age 10, reminds you to Call Before You Dig.
This year, being our 90th anniversary, we were so excited to have Robert O’Kelley of Jamestown attend our drive-thru event and business meeting on his 90th birthday April 24!

Why does Boone REMC hold a director election every year?
Electric cooperatives like Boone REMC are democratically controlled organizations, owned and controlled by their members. Our bylaws call for a board of nine directors representing a specific geographic area of our cooperative’s service territory. Each year, three directors are elected to serve three-year terms. The bylaws also call for the appointment of a nominating committee to assist in the election of directors. Members also have an opportunity to complete a petition process if interested in running for a director position.
Even when uncontested, Boone REMC holds an election to maintain transparency in the election process and ensure members have a voice in the cooperative’s governance.
