Your REMC is much more than just electricity

I often describe your co-op as being “different.” You might be thinking, though, that electricity is the same regardless of where it comes from.

OK, you are right. But an electric co-op is so much more than electricity and that’s because of you, the cooperative’s member-consumers.

KV REMC is a member-centric organization. As a member-consumer of the cooperative, you are at the heart of every business strategy we consider. We strive to provide more than the safe, reliable, and affordable electricity you expect. We take it a step further. Our members have growing needs so we constantly research new technologies to give them new power options.

Instead of focusing on the bottom line to make stockholders happy, your co-op’s primary focus is serving your needs and the needs of the community. We do this best when our membership is actively involved and providing feedback. I am impressed with how the membership steps up to support projects like Toys for Tots or Pack A Backpack for children in need. You have generous hearts, and it shows.

Your attendance at the annual meeting, voting in the director election, and joining the electric vehicle car club are just a few ways we can connect with you and help keep pace with your priorities and needs.

A distinct difference between your REMC and most other utilities is that the co-op’s  member-consumers can run for the board of directors. Later this month, we will host a mandatory directorship meeting for member-consumers from District 1 and District 2 who are interested in serving on the board. While you don’t need to be an expert in electricity or business to run for director, you do need to have a passion for the community and a willingness to actively serve, learn and impact your cooperative.

Please consider running for the board and put your passion and commitment to work at your cooperative. Visit kvremc.com to learn more. Prospective directors: we look forward to seeing you at the directorship meeting on March 15.
