In this section, we’ll tell you where our maintenance and construction crews will be and what they will do.

Substation Maintenance: Work continues on the upgrade to the Porter substation, which feeds part of Lakes of the Four Seasons and the rural Hebron area. The new control building is now in place, and transmission poles have been set. Crews will continue preparing the site for the structure that will arrive soon.

Pole Maintenance: Our crews conduct regular pole inspections and replacements as part of year-round maintenance. Crews are working in the following areas: Morgan Township, Kouts, Hebron, Winfield and south of Valparaiso.

Line-Rebuild: Contract crews continue to focus on rebuilding the three-phase line from the Morgan Substation at 150 S. and 100 W. to the corner of 100 S. and 500 W. in Porter County.

AMI Meter Deployment: Meter technicians continue to deploy Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) meters throughout the system. When an employee visits your home, they will remove your existing meter and replace it with new equipment. This process will not require an employee to enter your home but may cause your electricity to blink.

Fiber Deployment: Contract crews continue to work to install the high-speed communication pathway between the co-op’s headquarters and our 12 electrical distribution substations. They have completed Phases 1 and 2 of the project, with Phase 3 beginning in March. Phase 3 work entails connecting eight substations to the headquarters.
