Following the retirement of Kankakee Valley REMC District 5 Director Kenny Redlin, the KV REMC board made an appointment to fill the remainder of the unexpired term. Redlin retired Aug. 1 after serving on the board for 31 years.

To fill the vacancy of the District 5 board seat, the KV REMC board voted to appoint currently-seated at-large director Susan Bachert to the District 5 position, since she resides in District 5. That appointment then opened an at-large board position. The board appointed former KV REMC Director David Janney, from Valparaiso, to fill the vacant at-large position.

David Janney joined the KV REMC board of directors in 2016 and served one term. During his term he earned the designation of Credentialed Cooperative Director and earned his Board Leadership Certificate through the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association. Both certificate programs help directors understand their roles, stay up-to-date on key issues and trends, and prepare them to meet the challenges facing electric cooperatives. He also served as KV REMC’s representative on the board of Wabash Valley Power Alliance, the cooperative’s power supplier. Janney is a strong advocate for the membership and the success of the cooperative. He is committed to the KV REMC board and to working alongside his fellow directors to enhance reliability and improving the quality of life for all member-consumers.

Bachert and Janney will complete the terms for the seats to which they were appointed, which expire in 2021. The KV REMC board has seven directors, representing five districts and two at-large positions. The five districts are fixed districts meaning that the directors must reside in those districts. The two at-large director positions allow for the directors to live in any of the five KV REMC service territories.
