October marks National Cooperative Month, a month we can celebrate the history, community, and principles that have shaped us. Over 95 years ago, rural communities across the country banded together to bring electricity to their families. This community spirit of collaboration has continued to be a hallmark of the cooperative model into the present day.
Speaking of collaboration and community, KREMCs Annual Community Day is coming up this month. Our team will spend a day serving at a nonprofit organization in our community. We look forward to this day every year, as it gives us the opportunity to fulfill our core value of Concern for Community and invest in members and the local area.
October also marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and to support this, we are hosting a fundraiser for Francines Friends. This non-profit organization provides mobile mammography in partnership with Parkview Health and Breast Diagnostic Center. Stop in the KREMC lobby to donate or follow us on social media to learn more about this organization. Your support makes mammograms accessible to more people in our community, helping to catch breast cancer early.
For our seasonal residents, now is the time to winterize your home and electric account. You can track the amount of electricity your house is using while you are gone and get High Energy Usage Alerts. This way, you wont be met with any surprises while you are away for the winter. For all our members, now is the time to prepare your homes for the coming cold and snow. Check out our website and social media for tips and advice on this process.
Thank you to our members for making our cooperative model possible. We look forward to being out in the community this month, as we enjoy this fall season.
