Steuben County REMC’s broadband project has been steadily increasing pace over the course of the last few months. So far through Phase I open zones, we have seen almost double the take rate of our early market projections. In some cases, this created a backlog of orders, extending installation lead times to up to 60 days from order placement. We have been working to ramp up efforts by adding additional install crews to fulfill our current anticipated schedule.

In late February, we were excited to reach a milestone of 500 installed subscribers to our fiber-to-the-home network.

We are currently taking orders for Zones 1 through 4 (Otter Northeast, Northwest, South and Orland). We anticipate moving through the Orland Zone and into Helmer, Zone 5, as early as late April or early May. Upon the completion of Helmer, we will have opened all zones available for service in Phase I of our project.

Current projections are to move into Phase II early this summer. To prepare, be sure to submit your interest and register now to receive first notice when we enter your area. Make-ready crews are continuing efforts in Phases III and IV, with expected zone releases starting for Phase III in late 2023 into 2024, and Phase IV will follow.
