October is here, and its our co-ops favorite time of year: National Co-op Month! Were celebrating the blessings of being part of a cooperative in several ways, and Im excited to share them with you.

Starting Oct. 1, members can donate six canned goods or other non-perishable items, which will be distributed to local food pantries and community centers this fall and winter. Check out page 6 for more details and a list of suggested donation items.

As a thank-you, your donation will be rewarded with an ultra-soft REMC fleece blanket, perfect for staying cozy as the temperatures drop. Our donation drive begins in October and will continue through the end of the year, but blankets are available only while supplies last, so dont wait to give!

Were also celebrating by giving back with our time. On Tuesday, Oct. 14, our office will be closed as employees spend the day serving at YMCA Camp

Honor Bright in Sellersburg. Just as weve done at Tunnel Mill Scout Camp in 2022, Clark State Forestry in 2023, and Silver Heights Camp in 2024, our team will roll up our sleeves to build benches, remove trees, plant shrubs, and help beautify the campgrounds. This hands-on service is one way we live out one of our founding cooperative principles: Concern for Community.

October reminds us that being part of a cooperative is about more than electricity. Its about neighbors helping neighbors and making our communities stronger. Thank you for being part of Clark County REMC and sharing in the cooperative spirit with us.
