2015-territory-map-webAnnual meeting time means board of directors elections. At this year’s annual meeting on April 11, we will be electing a board member from District 4 and the at-large position. If you are interested in serving your fellow co-op members as a Kankakee Valley REMC director, be sure to contact our office to receive a director election packet. Packets will be available starting Jan. 11.

Director candidates must meet certain qualifications, such as not being related to a co-op employee or director and not being engaged in business with the co-op or competing entity.

Interested members will be requested to complete a petition requiring signatures from 15 members who live in their district.  Members running for the at-large position can obtain names from anyone in the Kankakee Valley REMC service territory. Completed petitions must be returned to our office no later than 4 p.m. CST on Feb. 24.

In addition, members interested in running for a board seat must attend a mandatory informational meeting on Feb. 21 at 6 p.m. CST at the Kankakee Valley REMC office in Wanatah. All members running for a directorship must consent to a background check. Everyone who meets the qualifications, attends the informational meeting and completes a petition will be on the ballot. There will be no nominations for director positions accepted at the annual meeting. Elected directors will serve a three-year term.

The following are the townships located in each of the districts up for election. District 4 includes Davis, Center, Oregon, Washington, North Bend townships in Starke County and Union and West townships in Marshall County. The at-large position includes all of the Kankakee Valley REMC service territory.
