Board highlights in September

In an effort to keep you informed of your cooperative’s operations and activities, the following are highlights of the Sept. 26 board meeting.

1. All directors were present along with CEO Steve Seibert and administrative assistant Lisa Hinton. Also present were Youth Tour participants Kaylee Burden and Kaitlyn Sturgeon.

2. The Aug. 28 board meeting minutes and special board meeting minutes were reviewed and approved.

3. The membership certificates and vouchers were reviewed and approved.

4. The directors’ report was reviewed and approved.

5. The first item of business was a presentation by Youth Tour participants Kaylee Burden and Kaitlyn Sturgeon.

6. The board approved a SIP/PSC fiber lease agreement, a resolution to increase debt limit, an amended Indiana Nextlevel resolution and an amendment to the 2019-2022 work plan, all for the upcoming FTTH/broadband project with PSC.

7. The CEO report was presented with Seibert reporting the following items:

a. Seibert reported Southern Indiana Power’s American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) score for 2019 was 85, up from 83 in 2017.

b. Seibert and Directors Gary Waninger and Randy Kleaving attended an IEC legislative meeting on Sept. 25.

c. Seibert informed the board Tim Rushenberg has been hired as VP of government relations at IEC.

d. Seibert provided a 2019 summer load control report.

e. Seibert updated directors on work plan jobs being completed by Delta Services.

f. Seibert reported the following upcoming dates: Operation Round Up board of trustees meeting Oct. 23 and IEC Community Day Nov. 1.

8. The 2019-2028 long range work plan was approved by the board.

9. Roger Wenning, safety training and compliance instructor with Indiana Electric Cooperatives, conducted ladder safety and inspection and personal tool inspection safety training on Sept. 9. Seibert advised there were no lost time accidents and no public liability claims to report.

10. The board approved a resolution for the amendment of the section 125 plan.

11. G. Waninger was selected voting delegate and Chairman Jeff Vogel alternate to the 2019 Indiana Electric Cooperatives’ annual meeting to be held Dec. 9-10.

12. Kleaving was elected to serve as Southern Indiana Power’s Indiana Electric Cooperatives director for 2020. 

13. G. Waninger reported on the NRECA regional meeting held Sept. 5-6.

14. Kleaving reported on the NRUCFC regional meeting held in conjunction with the NRECA regional meeting.

15. Seibert and G. Waninger reported on a policy and bylaw committee meeting held Sept. 26.

16. A wage and salary committee meeting has been scheduled for Oct. 4.

17. The next regularly scheduled board of directors meeting will be held Wednesday, Oct. 30, at 7 p.m.
