August board meeting notes

In an effort to keep you informed of your cooperative’s operations and activities, the following are highlights of the Aug. 31 board meeting. 

  1. All directors were present along with CEO Steve Seibert and Administrative Assistant Lisa Hinton. Also present were Manager of Engineering Todd Hammond, Manager of Operations Steve Fortwendel and Keith Mullen, P.E., of Power Centric Solutions.
  2. The July 27 board meeting minutes were reviewed and approved.
  3. The membership certificates were reviewed.
  4. The vouchers were reviewed and approved.
  5. The director’s report was reviewed and approved.
  6. Seibert provided an update on the FTTH/broadband project with PSC.
  7. Mullen reviewed the 2023-2026 Construction Work Plan with the board.
  8. The CEO report was presented with Seibert reporting the following items:
    1. Seibert provided a COVID-19 update. 
    2. Seibert reported the spray crew has concluded spraying for the year. 
    3. Seibert informed the board that three of our linemen participated in the IEC Lineman Rodeo.
    4. Seibert reported a Tell City High School student will be interning at the cooperative for the fall semester.
    5. Seibert informed the board of UUS and NRTC capital credits the cooperative received.
    6. Seibert provided an IEC statewide electric rate comparison to the board.
    7. Seibert reported the following meeting dates: NRECA Regional Meeting: Sept. 6-8, Southern Indiana Power Strategic Planning Session: Nov. 17-18, IEC Legislative Dinner: Nov. 21, IEC Annual Meeting: Dec. 5-6.
  9. Chris Gerald, safety and risk management with IEC, provided defensive driving safety training on Aug. 10. Seibert advised there were no lost time accidents, and no public liability claims to report.
  10. Seibert discussed the Hoosier Energy Wholesale Power Cost Tracker with the board. There will be no changes to member rates at this time. 
  11. Director Gary Waninger reported on a Hoosier Energy board meeting held Aug. 8.
  12. Director Randy Kleaving reported on the Indiana Electric Cooperatives board meeting held Aug. 17. 
  13. Recommendations from the Wage and Salary Committee were presented by Committee Chairman Dirk Stein and approved by the board.
  14. Information regarding upcoming director training was provided to the board.
  15. Chairman Jeff Vogel read thank you notes from Hoosier Heights Country Club, PCDC, Ben Mangum, and Lane and Emili Hilgenhold.
  16. The next regularly scheduled board of directors meeting will be held Wednesday, Sept. 28.
