About your electric meter

Warren County REMCs residential electric meters are read every day through our Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) computer system which uses radio frequency to deliver use information to our office. On a monthly basis your cooperative also reads certain rate structure accounts that require a manual meter read. These meters are time-of-use, distributive generation (solar meters), and any meter that may experience a system failure.

Meter failures happen occasionally due to age, software failure, and damage. When failures occur, a meter must be physically removed and a new meter installed by an meter technician. Minimal outage time can, and may, be needed for this work to be performed.

Other situations where a meter must be manual read by our REMC meter tech is when a meter have/ has experienced a communication error. Communication errors can be a result of loss of frequency and association from foliage, a sustained outage or a meter failure. These meters must be manually read but will normally reassociate without the need for a replacement meter.

Warren County REMC does this to maintain our system for accuracy and to keep the cooperatives equipment serving your property efficient. For safety reasons, meters must be easily accessible to REMC personnel.

Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
