A season for giving

As the holidays approach, I’m reminded how special this time of year is — not just for the lights and good food, but for what it brings out in people. It’s the season of giving, and around here, that spirit shines all year long.

At Heartland REMC, “Concern for Community” isn’t just a core principle — it’s who we are. Whether it’s keeping your lights on after a storm, volunteering at a local event, or lending a hand to someone in need, our employees take that commitment to heart.

One of the best examples of that spirit is our Operation Round Up. When members round their bills up to the next dollar, those few cents add up fast — helping local families, food banks, and community programs. Every bit of that is possible because of members like you.

We’re also proud to invest in the next generation. Through Youth Tour, local students experience leadership and democracy firsthand in Washington, D.C. Our support for 4-H helps young people build confidence, take on responsibility, and gain lifelong skills.

And through Junior Achievement, we participate in programs that teach students about financial literacy and career readiness. Watching their excitement and curiosity reminds us why giving back is so important.

We also share that same passion for safety, visiting local schools and community events to teach electrical safety because the best gift we can give is helping others stay safe.

You will often see our team out in the community: coaching youth sports, serving on boards, or volunteering at local fundraisers. That’s the cooperative difference. We don’t just work here — we live here.

I’m grateful every day to be part of this cooperative and this community. Thank you for your trust, kindness, and support throughout the year. From all of us at Heartland REMC, we wish you a warm, safe, and happy holiday season.
