August board meeting notes

To keep you informed of your cooperatives operations and activities, the following are highlights of the Aug. 27 board meeting.

1. All directors were present along with CEO Steve Seibert and Office/IT Manager Karen Mangum.

2. The July 30 board meeting minutes were reviewed and approved.

3. The membership certificates were reviewed.

4. The vouchers were reviewed and approved.

5. The directors report was reviewed and approved.

6. Seibert provided an update on the FTTH/broadband project with PSC.

7. The CEO report was presented with Seibert reporting the following items:

a. Pole attachment update
b. GIS project update
c. SCADA upgrade
d. The IEC Linemens Rodeo
e. Right-of-way spraying is finished for the year.
f. A retiree luncheon was held on Aug 26.
g. Reviewed a second Project Indiana assignment.
h. Seibert reported the following meeting dates: NRECA Regional Meeting, Sept. 3-5; IEC DC Fly-In, Sept. 16; Perry County Chamber dinner, Sept. 18; Spencer County Chamber dinner, Sept. 25; HEATS graduation, Oct. 17; IEC Annual Meeting, Dec. 8-9.

8. Robert White, safety and risk management instructor with IEC, conducted unannounced crew visits on Aug. 14. Seibert advised that there were no lost-time accidents and no public liability claims to report.

9. Seibert discussed the Hoosier Energy Wholesale Power Cost Tracker with the board. The board approved an increase of $1.90 per 1,000 kWh effective Oct. 1.

10. Seibert was selected voting delegate for the Federated election meeting to be held Sept. 4.

11. The board approved changes for Board Policy No. 203R5.

12. Director Randy Kleaving reported on the IEC board meeting held on Aug. 20.

13. Information regarding upcoming directors training was provided to the board.

14. Committee Chairman Dirk Stein and Seibert presented recommendations from the Wage Salary Committee, which the board approved.

15. Chairman Jeff Vogel reviewed a thank-you note from Lincoln Heritage Public Library.

16. The next regularly scheduled board of directors meeting will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 24.
