October is National Co-op Month, a time when cooperatives across the nation pause to reflect on what makes us unique and to celebrate the principles that guide us. For Henry County REMC, this month is about recognizing the cooperative model and celebrating the people who bring it to life every single day.
Several of our line crew members recently reached significant career milestones, and I could not be prouder of their accomplishments. Jason Burton, Drew Horning, and Cory Murphy each completed their final eight-hour gloving test, officially earning the title of Journeyman Linemen. Tom Gettinger and Lance Koontz also advanced their skills by completing Meter Technician Training, adding to their expertise as Journeyman Linemen. These accomplishments reflect years of hard work, training, and an unwavering commitment to safety. Their success is a testament to the cooperative principle of Education, Training, and Information.
I also want to congratulate our Chief Operating Officer, Adam Warwas, who is featured in this issue of Indiana Connection as one of our industrys Emerging Leaders. Adamsleadership has played a vital role in strengthening our system reliability and inspiring our team. His focus on innovation, collaboration, and mentorship embodies the very best of cooperative leadership, and I am delighted to see him recognized on a statewide stage.
Another highlight from recent weeks was our inaugural Power Swing Classic golf outing. Thanks to the incredible support of participants, sponsors, and volunteers, the event raised an inspiring $13,000 for Secret Families of Henry County and far exceeded our expectations. It was yet another example of how our cooperative community can come together to make a lasting impact.
As we celebrate National Co-op Month, I am reminded that the cooperative difference is found in people. From the dedicated employees who keep our system strong to the members and partners who support our communities, together we are building a brighter future for everyone we serve.
