Why are rates changing?

The rate adjustment allows Southeastern Indiana REMC to continue investing in system reliability, manage rising power supply costs, maintain infrastructure and improve member services. These updates help ensure long-term financial health and dependable electric service.

How much will my bill increase?

The average residential member can expect about an 8% increase in their bill. Your actual change will vary depending on your energy use and rate classification.

What are the new residential rates?

  • Service access fee: $40/month (single-phase)
  • Energy charges:
    • $0.1352/kWh for the first 1,000 kWh (year-round)
    • Lower rates apply for usage over 1,000 kWh during certain months

Full rate details are available at seiremc.com.

What is the time-of-day (TOD) rate and is it right for me?

The TOD rate offers a lower price for electricity used during off-peak hours. On-peak electricity is priced higher ($0. 29/kWh), while off-peak is just $0.11/kWh. This rate is ideal for members who can shift energy use to mornings, late evenings and weekends. A 12-month commitment is required.

How do I switch to the TOD rate?

Contact our office to speak with a member services representative. We will help you determine if your household qualifies and if TOD is a good fit for your energy habits.

When do these changes take effect?

  • Bylaws and service rules and regulations: Effective July 21,2025
  • Electric rate adjustments: Effective Oct.1,2025, and reflected on your November 2025 bill
