At Southeastern Indiana REMC, everything we do is guided by a simple but powerful purpose: to serve our members with integrity, accountability and care. That mission informs not only how we deliver electricity, but also how we make decisions, communicate with our members and invest in the future of our cooperative.
You will notice in this issue several important updates that reflect that commitment starting with a rate adjustment that will take effect on Oct.
1. As a not-for-profit utility, we dont raise rates to generate profits. We do it when necessary to keep pace with rising power supply costs, ensure the strength and reliability of our electric system and continue providing the high level of service you expect and deserve. For most members, the increase will be about 8%, and we remain committed to helping you understand how this change may impact your monthly bill.
In addition to the rate changes, our board of directors recently approved revisions to the cooperatives bylaws and service rules and regulations.
These updates, which took effect on July 21, were designed to improve clarity, modernize our policies, and ensure they continue to reflect the values and responsibilities we hold as a member-driven organization. We believe in transparency and accountability, and we want you to know exactly how your co-op operates.
But our focus isnt just on power and policy its also on people. Thats why were once again bringing the Mobile Mammogram unit to our community on Oct. 13. Early detection saves lives, and were proud to help make preventive care more accessible to our members. Its just one example of how we continue to look for ways to support your health and well-being.
Change is never easy, but its often necessary. Whether were adjusting rates, updating governance or offering new services, our goal is always the same: to serve you better. We thank you for your continued trust in Southeastern Indiana REMC, and were honored to be your energy partner today and for years to come.
