Five local organizations received a total of $12,000 in grants from the Dubois REC Operation Round Up program. These funds are available with the help of members who allow their electric bill to be rounded up a few cents to the next dollar each month. The details of each grant and the project it will fund are listed below:
1. Dubois County 4-H Council received $2,500 for its goat and sheep barn drainage project. Heather Weyer is pictured accepting the grant from Operation Round Up representative Kim Mehringer.
2. Huntingburg Police Department received a $2,500 grant to purchase Motorola radios. Rusty Drew is pictured accepting the grant from Mehringer.
3. Holland Volunteer Fire Department received a $2,500 grant to purchase portable radios. Bryan Luker is pictured accepting the grant from Mehringer.
4. Jefferson Township Community Center received a $2,000 grant to purchace an AED for the community center. Rhonda Robinette is pictured accepting the grant from Mehringer.
5. Ireland Water Utilities Inc. received a $2,500 grant to purchase backup generators. (Representatives were not available for a photo.)
