Each summer, Marshall County’s 4-H Electric program hosts its annual “tour” — a hands-on learning experience to help students see real-world applications of electricity. This year, we decided to shake things up by bringing the tour directly to Marshall County REMC!
We were excited to welcome Kay Industries, a local business based right here in Plymouth, Indiana, to lead the session. Kay Industries specializes in building 3-phase converters, and they brought several examples along to show how their equipment works and how electricity powers various systems and machinery.
The group enjoyed pizza and soda while learning how Kay’s converters help bridge the gap between single-phase and three-phase power — something most people never realize plays a role in everyday industries. Rob from Kay Industries also shared some fun behind-the-scenes stories, including how their converters have been used in unique places like celebrity workshops and even in the equipment for the very first circus cannonball act!
It was a fantastic evening filled with learning, laughter, and a closer look at how electricity powers our world. We’re grateful to Kay Industries and Rob for making this year’s 4-H Electric tour so memorable!
