Several Boone Power (formerly Boone REMC) linemen will compete at the Indiana Electric Cooperative Lineman Rodeo Aug. 21 and 22 at the Hendricks County Fairgrounds in Danville. The two-day, family-friendly event showcases the skills and safety training of electric cooperative lineworkers.

The rodeo includes competitive events for apprentices, journeyman lineworkers, and teams of three. Lineworkers will be tested on skills such as pole climbing, hurt man rescue, and safely changing out equipment like transformers and switches. The rodeo recognizes and rewards excellence in safety, skill, and knowledge.

The following linemen are representing Boone Power at this year’s event:

  • Dustin Baker
  • Nathan Funk
  • Marcus Pingleton
  • Nick Shepherd
  • Michael Shirley
  • Ryan Taylor
  • Seth Thompson
  • Cole Van Enkevort

“This event allows our linemen to refine and demonstrate the skills needed to perform their jobs safely,” said Jeff Dickerson, vice president, operations. “Our linemen have a lot of pride in the work they do. The competitive environment of the rodeo is a great way for them to showcase the required training and knowledge of the electric lineworker trade.”

The rodeo kicks off on Thursday, Aug. 21, starting with opening ceremonies followed by team events. The event continues Friday with individual competitions.

Admission to the event is free and open to the public. Boone Power welcomes you to join us in cheering on the hardworking linemen who build and maintain your local electric distribution system!
