When you signed up for electric service with Boone Power (formerly known as Boone REMC), you became a member of a cooperative, not just a customer of an electric utility. Here’s a look at a few of the benefits of your membership.
Democratic member control
Boone Power is governed by a nine-member board of directors. Each of our directors is a cooperative member, just like you. Each year, every member can participate in our board director election.
Energy advisor services
Our energy advisor can help you find ways to be more energy efficient, reduce your electric bill, and use electricity safely. We offer several programs, including free in-home energy evaluations.
Rebates
We offer a variety of rebates on equipment that can make your home or business more energy efficient.
Discounts
You can access thousands of discounts from national retailers, including deals on travel services and health and wellness products. Download the Co-op Connections app to find deals from wherever you are.
Youth programs
Boone Power sponsors several programs for students, including a summer camp, a trip to the nation’s capital, page days at the Indiana Statehouse, an art contest, awards for volunteerism, 4-H Electric workshops, safety demonstrations, and scholarships.
Education and information
Each month, you receive Indiana Connection magazine to help you use electricity safely and efficiently, connect with your cooperative, and celebrate life in Indiana. Members are also invited to events throughout the year on topics related to the energy industry. The meetings are an opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback.
Capital credits
Electric cooperatives like Boone Power operate on an at-cost basis. We allocate and periodically return margins to our members based on how much electricity you used during a given timeframe. That’s your share of your electric cooperative ownership.
