Members are one step closer to fiber-fast, life-changing internet.

We are excited to announce that the LaGrange County REMC Broadband project has reached a new and important milestone. After months of hard work, we are now ready for the drop construction phase. During this phase, our crews will install buried cables connecting our fiber network to individual homes and businesses — one of the last steps before service installations can begin.

A reliable, high-speed fiber broadband connection opens up infinite possibilities. Whether you need to upload large files for work, participate in video calls without lags or interruptions, access your employer’s cloud-based software in a snap or simply kick back and relax with the family as you stream your favorite show, there is no limit to what you can do. Fiber optic cables can carry incredible amounts of data over long distances, which means our members can experience top speeds and reliability regardless of whether they live close to urban areas or in a more remote rural community.

These are just some of the many reasons why LaGrange County REMC remains committed to overcoming any obstacles as we work to bring fiber broadband to our members. We faced several challenges along the way, including supply chain issues, material and labor shortages, and additional obstacles many others are experiencing across the country. It has been a long road, and a project of this magnitude would not have been possible without the hard work of our crews and the continued support of each of our members.

As drop construction begins, you may notice various contract crews working throughout the LaGrange County REMC service area. These partners will be knocking on your door to meet with you to complete a site survey and coordinate the construction of the drop to your home. Once the drop construction site survey is done, we are asking our members to mark any private underground facilities like septic systems, sprinkler systems and dog fences in their yards so we can avoid accidentally damaging them.

We are getting closer to experiencing everything that fiber-fast broadband can bring, changing the way we live, work and play. That is a reason to celebrate. Our customer service team is geared up to receive applications for service and is reaching out to members in the zones where drop construction will begin.
