Ninety years ago, a visit to Marshall County REMC looked much different from what it does today. Members stopped by our office on LaPorte Street in downtown Plymouth to pay their electric bill, ask questions, or visit with employees they knew by name. Bills arrived in the mailbox, payments were written by hand, and a phone call or visit to the cooperative was often the quickest way to get answers.

A lot has changed since 1936.

Technology has transformed nearly every part of our daily lives, and your cooperative has evolved alongside it. While the tools we use today look very different from those we used 90 years ago, our commitment to serving our members remains the same.

Today’s members have more options than ever to manage their accounts on their own schedule. Through SmartHub, you can pay your bill, monitor your electric use, report outages, receive important notifications, and update your account information anytime, anywhere. Our Paperless Billing program makes receiving your monthly statement faster and more convenient, and Prepaid Metering gives members another flexible payment option by allowing them to pay for electricity as they use it.

Technology has also strengthened the way we serve you behind the scenes. From advanced metering and improved outage reporting to faster communication during outages and important service updates, we can respond more efficiently while keeping members informed every step of the way.

Of course, not everything has changed. If you would rather stop by our office, call us with a question, or speak with a member of our team face-to-face, you will always be welcomed with the same personal service that’s defined this cooperative for nine decades.

Whether you paid your bill from your kitchen table in 1936 or from your smartphone in 2026, our purpose has always remained the same: to provide reliable service, to put our members first, and to continually find better ways to serve the communities we call home.
