August always feels like a season of transition. Summer begins to wind down, students head back to the classroom, and many families settle back into familiar routines. It’s also a reminder that, as a cooperative, we’re always looking ahead by making investments that serve our members today while preparing for tomorrow.

As another school year begins, I want to wish all our local students, teachers, school staff, and families a successful year. I also encourage everyone to slow down and stay alert as you travel our roads. School buses will once again be making frequent stops, children will be walking and riding bicycles, and a little extra patience behind the wheel helps ensure everyone arrives safely. Safety has always been one of our cooperative’s core values, and that commitment extends beyond our power lines to the communities we proudly serve.

This issue of Indiana Connection highlights two great examples of how Henry County REMC invests in our members.

You will read about our fifth annual Summer Cooperative Camp, where young people spent the week exploring careers in the electric utility industry, learning about electrical safety, developing leadership skills, and experiencing firsthand what cooperation means. Watching these students grow in confidence and curiosity throughout the week reminds us that investing in our youth is one of the best ways we can strengthen the future of our communities.

You will also find information about our 2026 rebate program, which helps members save money while making energy-efficient upgrades to their homes and businesses. Whether it’s replacing an aging HVAC system, installing a heat pump water heater, scheduling an HVAC tune-up, or purchasing qualifying electric outdoor equipment, these rebates can help lower the upfront cost of improvements that may also reduce monthly energy use.
