As we turn the page to June, I want to take a moment to reflect on the strong sense of community that continues to define our cooperative. One of the highlights of the past month was our annual Meet the Candidates event. I would like to extend a sincere thank-you to all the members who took the time to attend. Your engagement is what keeps our cooperative vibrant and member-driven.
This year’s event was especially meaningful as we celebrated our 90th anniversary. Reaching this milestone is a testament to the generations of members, board directors, and employees who have worked together to build and sustain a cooperative rooted in service, trust, and shared purpose. It was inspiring to see so many of you come together — connecting with one another, engaging in the democratic process, and continuing the legacy that has carried us for nearly a century.
This month, members should keep an eye on their mailboxes for an important piece of that democratic process: the ratification form. As part of our cooperative bylaws, members are asked to review the cooperative’s financial statement and the results of the board of directors election, then vote on whether to ratify those items. This is one of the ways you, as a member-owner, have a direct voice in how your cooperative operates.
We encourage every member to participate. Your input matters, and your voice helps guide the future of our organization. As a small token of appreciation, members who complete and return their ratification form by the due date will receive a $10 bill credit on their account. We hope to see strong participation this year. It’s one more way we demonstrate the cooperative difference in action.
June also brings an opportunity to celebrate the important people in our lives. With Father’s Day this month, I would like to recognize all the fathers and father figures in our communities. Whether you’re a dad, a grandfather, a mentor, or someone who simply shows up with guidance and support, your role makes a lasting impact. Thank you for the strength, encouragement, and example you provide each day.
As always, thank you for being a valued member of our cooperative. Together, we continue to power not just homes and businesses, but the connections that make our communities stronger.
