One of the most important parts of Heartland REMC’s Annual Meeting will be the election of directors to serve a three-year term on the board. This year, there are elections for three board districts — including Districts 3, 6, and 11.
As with other electric co-ops, Heartland REMC members have the right to choose board members, who are charged with making major decisions about the co-op’s direction.
Under the co-op’s bylaws, each director is responsible for appointing one member of the Election Committee from their respective district. The Election Committee met on April 21 to review and approve the petitions of candidates seeking election to the board.
MEMBERS OF THIS YEAR’S ELECTION COMMITTEE INCLUDE:
Adam Renbarger, Amanda Boggs, Austin Greer, Jane Swanquist, Skip Smalling, Allen Davis, Ryan Carroll, Todd Williams, Chris Gibson, Zack Krinn, and Kenny Yake. Christy Barlow, human resources manager for Heartland REMC, and Aleasha Boling, Parr Richey attorney, were also attending.
The Election Committee reviewed and verified each candidate’s petition. Three petitions were approved. The candidates are:
District 3: Doug Wilcox, incumbent
District 6: Joh Smith, incumbent
District 11: Alan Schlegenhauf, incumbent
Members registered for the Annual Meeting may vote for the director candidate of their choice. The elected directors will help guide the cooperative over the next three years. Heartland REMC members are encouraged to vote at either the Markle or Wabash office between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. by June 29.
