It’s hard to believe we are already halfway through the year and preparing for fair season. For many years, Marshall County REMC has proudly supported local 4-H programs and the Marshall County Fair, recognizing the important role both play in bringing our communities together and helping young people grow through hands-on learning opportunities.
One way we support local youth is through the 4-H electric program. Led by electric professionals, this program gives participants the opportunity to learn about electricity, safety, wiring concepts, and related skills. After projects are completed, Marshall County REMC employees assist with judging electric exhibits in neighboring counties, including Fulton, Cass, and Miami. In return, judges from those counties visit Marshall County to evaluate local 4-H electric projects. This partnership helps ensure fair judging while encouraging collaboration between counties and programs.
The Marshall County Fair has always been an important tradition for Marshall County REMC because it brings the community together and provides an opportunity to show our continued support for local families, youth, and agriculture. For many years, we have proudly set up a booth in the commercial building, located in the same familiar spot fairgoers have come to know and visit each year. The fair allows us to connect with members in a relaxed setting, answer questions, and share information about our programs and services.
Member Appreciation Day remains one of our favorite traditions and takes place each year on Wednesday during fair week. It’s a chance for us to thank our members for their continued support and engagement.
This year, Marshall County REMC will host a Live Line Demonstration during fair week, offering an up-close look at electrical safety and the work line crews perform. Our booth will be open Monday through Thursday, beginning at noon and remaining open through the evening. Check out the following pages for more information. We also encourage all 4-H participants to stop by the booth to receive a complimentary milkshake ticket redeemable at the Dairy Barn — available to every 4-Her, not just electric project participants.
We look forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting new ones during fair week. Be sure to stop by our booth. We hope to see you there!
