Lineworkers

Each April, we recognize the dedicated individuals who keep the lights on — our lineworkers. Kankakee Valley REMC’s 27 lineworkers serve our community every day, restoring power, maintaining lines, and keeping life running smoothly for all our members.

When storms strike and outages occur, lineworkers leave family dinners and work long hours in challenging conditions to restore power safely and quickly. Their readiness comes from rigorous training, experience, and a deep commitment to the communities they call home.

Lineworkers don’t just power homes and businesses, they power their own neighborhoods, schools, farms, and emergency services. Their work affects everyone’s daily life, from keeping the lights on for homework and family dinners to ensuring local businesses and essential services stay running. At times, they even assist neighboring utilities through mutual aid, ensuring help is available when it’s needed most.

Linework is demanding and sometimes dangerous, but their professionalism, teamwork, and focus on safety keep our communities running every day. We are grateful for their dedication and the sacrifices they make to serve their neighbors. So, if you see a lineworker, take a moment to thank them.
