For a century, Rihm Foods has been a familiar and trusted name in Henry and surrounding counties, rooted in hard work, adaptability, and an unwavering commitment to quality. As the family-owned business celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2026, its story is inseparable from the community it serves and the people who have dedicated their lives to its success.

Part of a family meat business legacy that dates back to 1890, Rihm Foods officially began operations in Henry County in 1926. What started as a traditional meat market has evolved into a full-service food provider, reflecting both changing consumer habits and the Rihm family’s willingness to grow with the times.

Located near the Fayette, Wayne, and Henry County line, Rihm Foods’ location has helped shape its growth for decades. While deeply rooted in Henry County, the business also serves customers throughout the surrounding counties, extending its reach while remaining firmly connected to the local communities it calls home.

For Jerry Rihm, the business has never just been a job, but rather a way of life.

“I get up and go to work every day. That’s where I’ve spent most of my time and most of my life,” Jerry said.

Along with Don and Jim Rihm, Jerry grew up in the meat market, building childhood memories alongside the steady hum of daily operations. Together, they’ve watched the business expand, adapt, and modernize, while staying true to the values their family established generations ago.

One of the biggest changes Jerry has witnessed over the years is how people eat and cook. That shift has pushed Rihm Foods to diversify its offerings and services, allowing the business to remain relevant while continuing to deliver the quality customers expect.

Reliable electricity has played a critical role in their growth. When asked how dependable power impacts day-to-day operations, Jerry didn’t hesitate.

“That’s a big reason we stayed in Henry County — REMC,” he said.

Jerry recalls attending REMC annual meetings with his father, experiences that reinforced the importance of local service and reliability. Over the years, Rihm Foods has taken advantage of several Henry County REMC rebate programs, investing in modern, energy-efficient equipment that helps control costs while keeping operations running smoothly.

Staying ahead of change has always been part of the Rihm Foods mindset. Jerry noted that the business works hard to keep up with advancements in technology, ensuring they can continue to serve customers efficiently without sacrificing quality.

When asked what he would want customers to know above all else,

Jerry’s answer was simple and sincere: “We always try to give them good service and good product.”

After 100 years, that philosophy continues to guide Rihm Foods forward. As the company looks to the future, its success remains grounded in family, community, and a trusted partnership with Henry County REMC, proof that when local businesses are powered by strong values and reliable service, they can stand the test of time.
