Beyond communicating with our members through Indiana Connection magazine, social media, our website, and SmartHub, we also host occasional educational events about our programs and services or the electric industry. These meetings, which we call Member Ambassadors of Cooperative (MAC) events, are designed to provide face-to-face engagement opportunities with Boone Power members and our employees and directors.

Our next Member Ambassadors event will provide a look at the regional electric system. We are pleased to welcome Dana Cochran, manager of stakeholder relations with the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO), as our guest speaker. MISO is the Regional Transmission Organization (RTO) responsible for overseeing the electric grid across a large portion of the central United States.

Cochran leads a team of policy analysts and oversees communication with stakeholders on energy issues, strategic priorities, and long-term planning. At our upcoming event, she will share more about the role of an RTO, the area MISO serves, and how it works with utilities to support the reliable delivery of electricity.

The event will be held Tuesday, March 3, in the Farm Bureau Community Building at the Boone County 4-H Fairgrounds. Light refreshments will be provided from 5:30-6 p.m., with the presentation beginning at 6 p.m. There is no cost to attend, but registration is required.
