Decatur County REMC is gearing up for another year of proactive vegetation management — a core part of delivering the safe, reliable power our members count on every day.
We’re grateful to have you as part of our cooperative, and we take our commitment to reliability seriously. One of the biggest threats to our electrical system is overgrown vegetation. As much as we all enjoy a tall shade tree, branches growing too close to power lines are the leading cause of outages and can create hazardous situations for both members and our crews.
That’s why, throughout 2026, our trained tree-trimming contractors will be working across our service area to clear vegetation from electrical equipment. This planned work should not interrupt your electric service, but it plays a crucial role in preventing outages and improving response times in the future.
Where we will be working in 2026
The following areas are scheduled for vegetation management in 2026:
- New Point Substation, Circuit 2
- New Point Substation, Circuit 3
- Center Substation, Circuit 1
- Center Substation, Circuit 2
- Center Substation, Circuit 3
- Center Substation, Circuit 4

Stay informed before crews arrive
We know communication matters. Before crews begin work in your neighborhood, we will send a reminder email to notify you that the work is underway. Make sure you don’t miss these updates — enroll in SmartHub today to stay connected.
Members will also receive a brochure outlining our vegetation management program, which includes information on why we trim, how our crews complete the work, and what you can expect when they’re in your area. Every step supports our goals: fewer outages, faster restoration, and a stronger electric system.
If you have any questions about upcoming tree trimming work, please don’t hesitate to call us.
Thank you for helping keep our system safe and dependable.
