As we close another year, I want to thank you — our members — for your continued trust and support. Our cooperative was founded on the promise of people working together to improve their communities, and that mission still guides every decision we make. Whether we’re enhancing reliability, innovating for the future, or advocating for sound energy policy, one question always leads the way: How will this benefit our members?

This past year brought meaningful progress in strengthening our local system and influencing national energy policy. Electric cooperatives nationwide joined together to address the EPA’s Power Plant Rule, which, as written, could have forced an abrupt move away from dependable generation resources. While renewables are vital to our future, natural gas, coal, and nuclear remain essential to ensure 24/7 reliability as energy demand grows. Cooperative advocacy helped shape a more balanced, realistic approach that protects reliability and affordability for Miami-Cass REMC members.

We also made strides on federal permitting reform. Outdated rules have long slowed the construction of critical infrastructure, from new transmission lines to generation projects. Efforts by co-ops are helping modernize the process so investments reach communities faster and improve grid resilience.

Another important step forward is bipartisan support for the 2025 FEMA Act, which would streamline disaster recovery and reimbursement for cooperatives. Faster assistance means quicker restoration after storms and stronger protection for rural areas.

Beyond advocacy, we continue investing in new technologies that improve service — from advanced monitoring systems to AI tools that identify issues before they occur.

As we look ahead, the energy landscape is evolving rapidly. With the dedication of Miami-Cass REMC employees and the support of our members, we are ready to meet the challenges ahead and keep our promise — reliable, affordable power for today, and tomorrow.
