Henry County REMC is celebrating a major milestone for several of its employees who recently completed Hoosier Energy’s Apprenticeship Training and Safety (HEATS) programs. The graduates were honored during a ceremony in French Lick, Indiana, where Hoosier Energy recognized employees from its member cooperatives who successfully completed the program’s rigorous requirements.
Representing Henry County REMC were;
• Tom Gettinger and Lance Koontz, graduates of the Meter Technician HEATS Program
• Heather Ferguson and Melissa True, graduates of the Member Service Representative HEATS Program
• Jason Burton, Drew Horning, and Cory Murphy, graduates of the Lineworker Apprentice HEATS Program
“Investing in our employees’ professional development directly benefits our members.” said Melissa True, CEO of Henry County REMC. “These programs strengthen the knowledge and skills of our team while reinforcing our commitment to safety, reliability, and service.”
Hoosier Energy, the generation and transmission cooperative that supplies power to Henry County REMC and other member systems throughout southern and central Indiana, developed the HEATS program to promote continued education and workplace safety across all aspects of the electric cooperative industry. The training combines hands-on instruction, classroom learning, and safety-focused education to ensure that cooperative employees are well-equipped to meet the needs of their members and the communities they serve.
The cooperative’s investment in continuing education reflects one of the Seven Cooperative Principles that guide all electric cooperatives; Education, Training, and Information. This principle emphasizes the importance of empowering employees, members, and communities through knowledge and lifelong learning.
“At Henry County REMC, we believe that continuous learning is essential to providing the best possible service to our members.” True added. “We’re incredibly proud of our team’s hard work and their dedication to professional excellence.”
Congratulations to all the HEATS graduates. Your achievements exemplify the cooperative spirit and a commitment to growth that benefits the entire community.
