Page Day at the Indiana Statehouse
Electric cooperatives across Indiana sponsor Page Day at the Statehouse. On Jan. 27, students will explore the Statehouse, step into the role of a lawmaker through a mock bill activity, hear from inspiring government leaders, and connect face-to-face with their state legislators. Students also get an inside look at how laws are made and the role citizens play in the democratic process. The program is open to high school students who can provide their own transportation to and from the Statehouse. Learn more and apply by Jan. 9 at IECPageDay.org.
Cooperative Student Art Contest
Open to any K-12 student in Indiana, a first-place ($100) and an honorable mention ($50) winner is selected from each grade. Best of Show is also selected and receives an additional $100. Kindergarten students can illustrate any subject, season, or event; first graders depict January, and so on, ending with the high school seniors illustrating December. Learn more and submit artwork by Feb. 27 at indianaconnection.org/for-youth/art-contest.
Electrical safety demonstrations
Boone Power provides demonstrations on electrical safety for classes or other student groups upon request. Our employees can tailor the presentation to the current curriculum and provide additional information about the science of electricity and careers in the industry.
Energy efficiency presentations
Through our partnership with the National Energy Foundation, local fourth-grade teachers can enroll in our Think! Energy program to help their students learn about electricity generation and energy efficiency. More information is available at thinkenergy.org/boone.
