Each year, the Annual Meeting reminds us of what makes Kankakee Valley REMC unique: our member-consumers. Its a time to come together, reflect on our progress, and look ahead to new opportunities to better serve you.
This year, 628 registered member-consumers and their families, nearly 1,300 people in total, joined us at the Porter County Fairgrounds for an evening of family fun. This year, we tried something new by opening the doors early for those who wanted to arrive and enjoy a meal, before any of the entertainment began. The change proved successful, helping reduce long waiting times and creating a smoother start to the evening.
The evening began with a catered meal of pork chops prepared by LaCrosse Lions Club and sides by John Andys from Kouts. Sweet treats were provided by Desserts by Juliette and Piggies Cream.
The evening offered something for everyone. Members caught up with friends and neighbors while enjoying live music from Ashlyn and Nate Venturelli. We were excited to bring back two crowd favorites, Bingo and the cornhole tournament, and laughter filled the air as kids and adults joined in the Farm Stand Face Off game show and a juggling performance.
An important part of our Annual Meeting is always the business meeting and director election. During the meeting, we proudly introduced our Junior Board of Directors and presented them with their well-deserved scholarships.
I also had the opportunity, alongside Board President David Janney, to share key updates, including the news that the board will be retiring more than $2. 5 million in capital credits to members who were part of KV REMC between 1987 and 1989.
In addition, Chris Birky (District 1) and Dean Moretton (District 2) were elected to serve another three-year term on the board.
Thank you to everyone who joined us at this years Annual Meeting. Your involvement with your co-op makes KV REMC special, and together, well continue working to provide reliable service, support our communities, and deliver on your needs today and for years to come.
