Protect your personal information this holiday season! Bring your sensitive financial and personal documents to Bartholomew County REMC during business hours, Dec. 8-12, for free secure paper shredding.
When you arrive, simply deposit your items in the bins located in the Member Services lobby area. Speedy Shred, a local professional shredding service, will shred all papers on-site throughout the week, ensuring your personal information stays safe and secure.
This free service is part of BCREMCs commitment to the community. Whether you dont have a shredder at home or simply want to save time, take advantage of this opportunity to safely dispose of your personal paperwork.
WHAT YOU CAN BRING:
Some examples of documents suitable for shredding include:
- Old tax returns (If documents include tax returns, tax-deductible charitable donations, tuition costs, business, or medical expenses, keep them for seven years before shredding.)
- Pay stubs
- Credit card and bank statements
- Loan statements
- Paid utility bills
- Old insurance policies
- Canceled or voided checks,
- Credit card offers
- Items with your signature
PLEASE NOTE:
- Do not put boxes, sacks, three-ring binders, or metal hanging folders in the bins.
- Staples and paperclips are allowed.
- No batteries! Even a small battery can cause a fire in the shred truck.
- No prescription bottles.
- This event is for personal documents only – no businesses please.
